Story

Newcastle and the whole of the north east have always been important to Sarah and to our family. Mam (Jean) grew up in Blyth and her Dad sisters, their children and grandchildren all live in and around Seaton Sluice. So this year we thought there could be no better place to attempt our first half marathon than at the Great North Run on the 11th September. Spurred on by the inspiration of our cousin Amber who ran this race in 2018 and our cousin Mark who completed a half marathon earlier this year we have been training throughout the summer, in the heatwave and even when on holiday (the Scottish highlands make for great hill training). As we get closer to covering the full half marathon distance we want to ask for your help and donations to a great cause. Meningitis Now have helped our family a great deal in the aftermath of losing Sarah. As many of you know we lost our sister to the fourth bout of meningitis she contracted. Having lost her hearing and balance during previous infections. Meningitis Now have supported us and many other through bereavement through their staff, through their grants for therapy and support and also support those living with the effects of meningitis. Please donate what you can. In return you can expect many phots of our red faces throughout training and the race itself. Thank you, Emma and Helen
